Jenny McCarthy Signs on as Columnist, Blogger for Splash by the Chicago Sun-Times
Online, October 19, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Actress and bestselling author Jenny McCarthy has joined Splash by the Chicago Sun-Times as a regular columnist and daily blogger beginning Oct. 22. The Chicago-area native will launch her weekday blog on Monday, and her first print column will debut on Sunday, Oct. 28 and appear every week in the Sun-Times' Splash magazine that runs on Sundays.
Called "Ask Jenny,'' McCarthy's column will feature a lively range of topics that answer reader questions about subjects girlfriends talk about: love, sex, parenting, friendship, fitness and more.
A cover story announcing McCarthy's debut will run in the Splash magazine on Sunday.
Her Monday-through-Friday blog, which will appear at splash.suntimes.com, will go in depth on the daily joys, juggle and struggles of being a single mother to her 10-year-old son Evan. The Chicago-area native will write from her new home in the western suburbs of Chicago and occasionally from the newsroom on Fridays when she's in town.
In her cover story interview with Splash editor Susanna Negovan, McCarthy says she is thrilled to join the team. "I've signed contracts over the past 20 years that were multimillion-dollar deals, but I am more excited about this one than anything I've done since my first deal at 'Singled Out,'" she says. "Not only is [the Sun-Times] something that I grew up reading, but I just feel honored. I actually feel like it's a privilege to do it."
McCarthy began her relationship with the Sun-Times in May, when she moved to Chicago and signed on to do a once-a-month charity column. Her expanded role with the newspaper is an outgrowth of the success of that partnership.
"When I first began editing Jenny's pieces, I was astounded at how smart and funny her writing was - she has a natural gift," said Negovan. "I can't wait for our readers to discover what I already know: She has a voice that will charm them."
Splash is a new weekly 24-page style and society section available in the Sunday Chicago Sun-Times, the Naperville Sun and 32 additional suburban newspapers produced by the Sun-Times' Pioneer Press. A digital version, Splash by Chicago Sun-Times, is available free on iTunes.
