Amidst the rising popularity of better for you products, many government facilities, such as military bases and schools, are now making efforts to comply with NAMA’s FitPick standards.
Hudson and Betsy Gray, owners of Snack Smart Healthy Vending, and operators for HealthyYOU Vending, own and operate 49 healthy vending machines in Tennessee and Kentucky. One of their vending locations includes Fort Campbell army base, home of the 101st Airborne Division, located along the Tennessee-Kentucky border.
Fort Campbell entered into an agreement with Snack Smart Healthy Vending as part of their initiative to implement the national FitPick standards at its post hospital and take out all junk-food vending machines. Snack Smart Healthy Vending placed their first machines in the hospital on a pilot program, working through the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES). Now, Snack Smart Healthy Vending has 21 healthy vending machines at various locations on post and 4 in the post hospital.
