Hahn Loeser & Parks LLP Continues to Expand; Opens Office in Chicago

​Hahn Loeser & Parks LLP, a business law firm with 130 attorneys and offices in Ohio, California, Florida and Indiana, has opened its eighth office location in Chicago, Illinois at 125 South Wacker Drive, Suite 2900. The new office will initially be anchored by five new Hahn Loeser partners: Steven E. Feldman, Daniel R. Cherry, Sherry L. Rollo, Robert M. Gould, and Walter J. Kawula, Jr. All licensed patent attorneys focusing on intellectual property litigation, the group will establish and help to grow Hahn Loeser’s presence in the Chicago market. The Firm is already planning additional hires for the new office in late 2015.

Mr. Feldman focuses on complex intellectual property litigation and counseling involving patents, trade secrets, trademarks and unfair competition, and copyrights. He has extensive experience litigating chemical and pharmaceutical cases at the trial and appellate levels, and also provides strategic counseling regarding Food and Drug Administration (FDA) marketing exclusivities arising out of generic pharmaceutical (ANDA) patent litigation. A licensed patent attorney, Steve also has experience in litigation, prosecution and licensing matters involving polymers, clean coal and ethanol processing, nano-materials, solar cells, semiconductor processing, high brightness LEDs, aviation components, rare earth magnets, and computer related technologies. He earned his J.D., with honors, from George Washington University Law School in 1995, and a B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from Northwestern University in 1992.

Mr. Cherry has decades of experience in intellectual property matters, particularly patent litigation. He has handled cases in a wide variety of technologies, including pharmaceuticals, computers, and automobiles. Mr. Cherry earned his J.D., with honors, from the Harvard Law School in 1976, and his S.B. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1970.

Ms. Rollo is a seasoned litigator who represents clients in matters involving patents, trade secrets, trademarks and unfair competition, copyrights, and associated licensing issues, both domestically and internationally. She has experience counseling clients in a variety of technical areas including cases related to ethanol processing, recycling and industrial resource recovery, plastic films, aluminum extrusions and electric motors. Ms. Rollo also has experience in the pharmaceuticals area and has been involved in a number of high profile Abbreviated New Drug Application (ANDA) litigations at both the trial and appellate levels. She also counsels clients regarding Food and Drug Administration (FDA) marketing exclusivities arising out of ANDA patent litigation. Ms. Rollo earned her J.D. from John Marshall Law School – Chicago in 2004, and a B.S. in physics from the University of Texas at Austin in 2001.

Dr. Gould guides inventors, researchers, and start-ups during intellectual property litigation, prosecution, and due diligence investigations, with particular emphasis in the pharmaceutical, food science, and biotechnology industries. He applies scientific principles and the mechanics of research scientific principles in the areas of DNA chemistry; siRNA technology; DNA-based diagnostics; enzymology and catalysis; fermentation; drug development; pharmaceutical formulation; stem cell technology; and immunotherapeutics. Dr. Gould earned his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center in 1994, his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa in 1988, and his B.S. from the University of Illinois in 1981.

Mr. Kawula focuses on the technology, manufacturing and transportation industries, combining real-world engineering knowledge with extensive patent litigation and patent prosecution experience. He assists manufacturing clients by utilizing his engineering experience for drafting patent applications, analyses of prior art, product clearances, patent appeals, analyses of competitors' designs, and engaging technical experts to develop testimony for trial and patent claim construction hearings. Mr. Kawula also has particular experience with the legal aspects of various technologies. Mr. Kawula earned his J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law in 2001 and his B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1985.

Hahn Loeser’s new Chicago office highlights a year of significant growth for the Firm. In April, Hahn Loeser added an additional 3,000 square feet to its San Diego office, and recently moved to new, larger offices in Naples, Florida.
