Giving Back To The Environment And Community: Sustainable Mining Summit In Toronto To Engage Key Players In The Industry
Online, April 18, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Deloitte recently reported that mining companies are looking at attaining a new level of responsible behaviour, considering the requirements of all relevant stakeholders such as government, investors and the community. The report entitled "Tracking the Trends 2013: The Top 10 Issues Mining Companies may Face in the Coming Year", stated that a growing number of mining companies are filing resolutions on a wide range of sustainability-related issues including climate change, sustainability reporting, energy-water scarcity etc.
Integrating sustainability into core business practices will be the focal point of discussion amongst subject specialists at the 2nd Annual Global Sustainable Mining Summit, to be held on 28-29 May 2013 in Toronto - Canada. Minna Alia, Senior Vice President, Communications and Corporate Responsibility, Outotec will lead a session on sustainable mining throughout the supply chain and the role of technology as a catalyst in achieving sustainability goals.
