McAllen Data Center (MDC), the leading carrier-neutral colocation provider in the US-Mexico border, is pleased to announce the addition of former Sub-director of IP Network Engineering for Telefonica Mexico Mauricio Flores as Chief Operating Officer (COO).

In this position, Flores will be responsible for overseeing and managing MDC's operations, engineering, and customer service. His vast knowledge in the telecom sector in Mexico will be instrumental in driving growth for the company on the border.

“Mauricio brings substantial experience in the Mexican telecom industry acquired over the past two decades,” said Juan Salazar, McAllen Data Center CEO. “He has a proven record as a trusted leader in the industry and has been a long time personal friend. His experience with Telefonica perfectly aligns him with McAllen Data Center’s expansion plans.”

Flores was previously Sub-director of IP and Network Transmission for Telefonica Mexico, where he was responsible for engineering, implementation, and operation of fixed mobile and digital services for B2C and B2B customers.

“I know first hand what is required from the carrier’s perspective and I plan to use this comprehension to help produce better products and services for MDC customers,” said Flores. “Over the past years, I have been focused on Mexico, its regulatory environment, and complex networks.

Last month, McAllen Data Center announced the opening of two new data centers in Laredo and El Paso. The company plans on extending its footprint of interconnection services from the Gulf of Mexico to the Pacific Ocean along the US-Mexico border.

"He has an intimate understanding of the Mexican market and our business, a proven track record, and a passion for technology and the customer experience," Salazar added. “Mauricio will provide significant insight as the company strides forward with its vision to be the definitive solution for US-Mexico connectivity that empowers all carriers and content providers to connect on the border.“
