The official launch date for observe is April 7, 2014. observe is for sale on amazon.com
In celebration of the release, fabrikate has also launched a rebranded version of their blog, fabrikateblog.com, which features the photography of Kate Simons, aka "photography by a kate in michigan". Kate Simons is a photographer who studied commercial photography at Columbia College Chicago, and Grand Valley State University.
The inspiration for this journal came to be serendipitously.
"My house was robbed, and my digital camera along with my most recent projects were gone," Kate recalled. "I got thinking about the science of photography. The digital world, though convenient, is unnecessary for making beautiful pictures. All I really needed were some chemicals and a box."
Kate started work on a pinhole photography project, and needed a way to keep notes to achieve perfect
exposures.
"I couldn't find anything that fit my needs, so I put my design skills to work and created this book," she said. "I love that I can keep all of my exposure information on the right hand page. The left hand page is open for me to write about other things I'm experiencing while I'm out taking photos. It is the perfect balance of information and memories."
