Evershore Financial Group Engages Community, Fundraises for Diabetes Research
Online, April 16, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Evershore Financial Group, an independent comprehensive financial services firm with offices in Orlando, Boca Raton, and Palm Beach Gardens, sponsored the JDRF Walk for a Cure to help raise money toward a cure for Type 1 diabetes (T1D) on April 5.
Evershore sponsored the walk in support of several of its employees who are affected by T1D.
"It really means a lot to me that my company is supporting a cause that is so important to my family," said Beverly Provost, a financial advisor with Evershore and the team captain for the walk. "As the mother of a 9-year-old with Type 1 diabetes, I know firsthand the challenges of living with the disease. I'm proud to work for a company that truly fosters a strong family culture and supports the causes that are important to our family."
The entire company was involved in the efforts, with several employees, business partners, and clients walking or donating to the team. Evershore also set up a table where items such as tickets to a Miami Heat game and a golf bag were raffled off. In addition to sponsoring the event, team Evershore set a fundraising goal for $1,000. That goal was more than doubled with fundraising efforts bringing in more than $2,000.
Evershore employee, Jessica Paradis, commented, "It was a great turnout. I am very proud to be able to participate in the JDRF Walk for the Cure. I have been a Type 1 diabetic for almost 20 years and I was excited to share this experience with my daughter and friends. It was even more special to know that my coworkers cared so much to participate and donate to the cause."
In T1D, a person's pancreas stops producing insulin, which is an essential part for the body in order to process food and build energy. It strikes both children and adults, and with T1D, there are no days off and no cure.
JDRF is the leading global organization funding T1D research. The goal of the organization is to remove the impact of the disease from people's lives and eventually create a future without T1D. JDRF is the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, currently sponsoring approximately $568 million in research toward cures and treatment.
