Datacenters.com℠ Launches 1st Marketplace for Visitors to Buy Colocation Services Online

New Colocation Marketplace, Largest of Its Kind, Focuses on Providing Users With Upfront and Transparent Pricing for Colocation and Related IT Services.

Datacenters.com℠ formally announced today the official launch of its Colocation Marketplace in what some see as a new paradigm in the colocation industry. The Datacenters.com℠ Marketplace is the first platform to offer transparent colocation pricing from numerous providers to all visitors in an e-commerce platform.

“We have seen a huge shift in the way that clients want to purchase technology services,” said Joel St.Germain, CEO of Datacenters.com℠. “We call it the consumerization of IT and it’s a huge part of our strategy.”

Up until now, colocation pricing has been highly guarded within the data center industry. Colocation providers fear that publishing prices will lead to the commoditization the industry and drive colocation prices lower. At the same time, colocation buyers struggle with long delays in receiving pricing and quotes. In most cases, it takes days and weeks to receive quotes back from the provider.

Datacenters.com℠ is helping to facilitate retail colocation transactions by providing a simple, easy to use, and transparent platform for colocation buyers and sellers. The Datacenters.com℠ Marketplace allows visitors to shop, compare, and reserve colocation online. By reserving colocation online, customers can lock in retail colocation packages at a set price for up to 10 days. There’s no obligation and they can modify their reservation.

“Retail colocation was naturally our first choice for the Marketplace,” said Bob West, VP of Marketing for Datacenters.com℠. “Having upfront and transparent colocation pricing is something we have pursued for years; however, the industry wasn’t ready for it until now.”

Datacenters.com℠ will be adding additional products and services to the Marketplace including bare metal servers, dedicated servers, connectivity, network, cloud services, disaster recovery and more. All of which are slated for development in the first half of 2019.
