CityStash Allows Customers to Un-clutter Their Lives Without Leaving Home
Online, March 6, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Tim Friemel and his business partner have reinvented the concept of self storage with CityStash, a new startup company that offers pickup, storage and redelivery services in San Francisco and Washington D.C.
Self-storage is used by about 1 in 10 people in the United States, but it requires people to transport their own belongings and perform physical labor themselves.
That's where CityStash is different. The company delivers containers and boxes to a customer's living room for them to pack. The friendly CityStash team then comes back to pick up the boxes, containers, furniture, sports equipment, or whatever else needs storing. Everything is then transported and housed in their secure, climate-controlled facilities. Each item is tracked individually so that CityStash can redeliver any individual item at any time for a low flat fee. Plus, customers can make all orders through a simple to use online account. It's like cloud storage for physical stuff.
"As entrepreneurs, we understand how valuable a person's time and money are, and we saw that within the traditional self-storage model, both of those things were being wasted," said Friemel. "Many of our friends and colleagues were paying an exorbitant amount to rent a space that they only packed half full. Plus, they wasted all their weekends and free time transporting and unloading everything themselves. We knew there had to be a better way."
Unlike traditional self-storage, the company charges rent per item stored, so customers only pay for the space they actually use. Fees are determined by the size of what is being stored and the duration of time that the space is needed.
CityStash was founded in 2012 and has already doubled its storage space due to incredibly high demand. Because of the immediate popularity, the company is aiming to roll out the same concept in several other cities in the years ahead.
CityStash is located at 435 23rd St. in San Francisco and 419 Calvert Avenue in Alexandria, VA . For additional information and services, email info@citystash.com or visit www.citystash.com
