innov8xions launched the 3D Makers Summer School program, the first of its kind in Nigeria, to give African youth similar opportunities available to their peers in developed nations.
Lagos, Nigeria, September 20, 2016 (Newswire.com) - innov8xions, a brand of Cheth Limited, held their first 3D Makers Summer School from July 18, 2016 to Sept 2, 2016 in Nigeria. Participants ranging in age from 5 to 15 years old were introduced to 3D modeling and 3D printing of simple to fairly complex items including personalized items, model car, spaceships, castles, robotic parts, utensils and more. innov8xions held the first of what will become an annual event in order to help expose youth in Africa to new manufacturing technologies, give them the skills that international companies seek in employees, and encourage design and manufacturing needed for Africa’s development.

The summer school also inspired youth to be creative and innovate now and in the future through what they have learned by providing knowledge and resources, facility, and infrastructure to leverage new development and advancements in digital manufacturing technology. In order to continue their learning, students were enrolled in a customized Autodesk Project Ignite online 3D design classroom. The online classroom is loaded with tutorials from beginner to advance designs. Youth can continue their training anywhere they have access to a computer, tablet and internet, share ideas with their friends and learn from one another even after the summer program.
Cheth Limited has been using 3D and additive manufacturing technologies for product design and prototyping of their imprexsions brand of products since 2011. innov8xions was born to counter the poor infrastructure and difficulty accessing the resources needed for enabling creative invention and product development in major parts of Sub-Saharan Africa. Many innovative and creative ideas that would have contributed immensely to national and continental development have been lost over the years. The challenges of poor infrastructure and support systems such as review and advice from technical subject matter experts, unavailability of design and tooling companies, and even funding have prevented many worthy concepts and ideas from seeing the light of day.
