Campaign To Set The Official Record For The Biggest Online Launch Ever

An online campaign was launched to set the official Guinness world record for the biggest online launch ever along with a challenge to raise $1 million dollars in the space of 100 days.

Suleiman Murunga(22), a Start-up entrepreneur based in Clerkenwell, started the 100 day campaign as a creative strategy to raise 1 million dollars in capital to fund his Start-up business as well to support the efforts being made by two charities namely Computer Aid International and Computers for Charity who help to fight poverty through computer literacy programs in Africa.
He aims to raise the $1 million by touring the world and promoting what he calls the launch day collage, an online collage made up of 10,000 blocks that will be retailed for $100 each. During the countdown, the virtual collage will be placed in a museum and streamed on a large monitor connected live to the internet in order to receive real-time updates of the incoming logos form various brands and Tech companies from around the world. He hopes to create an iconic art piece to symbolise the record breaking achievement. The collage can be found on the website along with the 100 day countdown timer and a blog tracking the progress of the campaign.

The proceeds raised through the big launch collage will be used to fund the final development of his Start-up venture that still remains a secret project under the code name "The Big Idea" a web application he says defiantly deserves the biggest online launch ever. He will also use the money raised to support the efforts being made by the charities fighting poverty in Africa and will work with them to provide sustainable ICT solutions such as solar powered computer rooms and technical training to the teachers in various destitute African communities in order to give the children a chance to a modern education.

Suleiman said "I believe that IT supported education as the smartest way to fight poverty, because a exposed and motivated mind has boundless potential to bring change to its environment"

On the launch website, users are invited to join the big launcher movement and guess what "The Big Idea" is for a chance to get in early and use the application before it is launched to the public on the 11th-11-2011.

He then went on to say, "the achievement of the goals will be a celebration of the power of the internet and he would like everyone to join the movement because the record won't be he's alone, but will belong to the entire online community".

This definitely looks like it will be an exciting adventure to follow.
