Author of Tupac:187 Calls on LAPD to Reopen Investigation Into Murders of Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls

At a recent meeting of the Los Angeles Police Commission, Michael Douglas Carlin, called upon LAPD to reinvigorate the investigations into the murders of rappers Christopher Wallace aka Biggie Smalls aka Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. New evidence as detailed in Tupac:187 leads me to believe these cases can be solved.

Author Michael Douglas Carlin called upon the Police Commission and Police Chief Charlie Beck to reinvigorate the investigations into the deaths of rappers Tupac Shakur and Biggie Smalls.

Said Carlin, “We have the best leadership LA has ever known with Mayor Eric Garcetti, City Attorney Mike Feuer, and City Controller Ron Galperin. Police Chief Charlie Beck has led a transformation at LAPD sweeping out the corruption from the Rampart Era. He now needs to sweep out the remainder of residue from the Rampart Scandal.”

No greater honor will ever be bestowed on an officer, or a more profound duty imposed on him, than when he is entrusted with the investigation of the death of another human being. It is his duty to find the facts regardless of color or creed, without prejudice, and to let no power on earth deter him from presenting these facts to the court without regard to personality. --The Homicide Investigator's Creed

Russell Poole, Former LAPD Detective

Michael Carlin was one of three authors of the book Tupac:187. The other two, former LAPD Detective Russell Poole and RJ Bond took a confession letter to the LAPD in hopes that the case would be reopened. So far that hasn’t happened.

Said Russell Poole, “Next September the murder of Tupac Shakur will be a 20 year old case. It is difficult to get momentum in cases this old. But new evidence leads me to believe that this case can now be solved.”

Russell used to have a copy of the Homicide Investigator’s Creed displayed on his desk so that he saw it every day.

Says Russell Poole, “When Ennis Cosby was murdered I saw the fully functioning wheels of justice at work as we canvased America for clues. One tip that we received led to the case being solved. When we received that clue we emptied out the police academy and all of the cadets participated in the search and recovery of the murder weapon. A fully functioning department brought the killer to justice. The truth wants to seep out.

The murders of Tupac Shakur and Christopher Wallace continue to haunt me… Through it all I have never lost hope that one day the case would be solved and the killers brought to justice.”

The book Tupac:187 reads like an encyclopedia of the murders. All of the evidence is examined including all of the case files that existed at the time of the active investigation into the case. The book also contains a confession letter written in 1998 that was given to respected journalist Chris Blatchford. The book contains his statement about the letter along with information received from separate interviews with Mr. Blatchford. The letter surfaced in 2014 prompting the book to be written.
