A Source of Joy Theatricals, the producers of Broadway In The Hood, are proud to announce the limited engagement of ONCE ON THIS ISLAND December 12-14, 2014 as a special presentation to help collect shoes for underprivileged children in Nevada.

Join us in celebration of the 20th Annual Shoes for Children Shoe Drive and Benefit Performance as Broadway in the Hood/ A Source of Joy Theatricals, Inc. and Shoes for Children’s cofounder “Sweet Lou Collins” present the magical musical "ONCE ON THIS ISLAND". Celebrate the art of storytelling with this rousing Calypso-flavored musical that garnered eight Tony nominations including Best Musical for its Broadway run. This beautiful song and dance masterpiece tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. When Daniel is returned to his people, the gods who rule the island lead Ti Moune on a quest that tests the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and even death. From the Tony Award-winning songwriting team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (SEUSSICAL, RAGTIME) comes the Olivier Award-winning ONCE ON THIS ISLAND a Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairy tale The Little Mermaid that will have you singing and dancing in the isles!
