A Decade of Dedication: Fighting Human Trafficking for 10 Years

Life Preservers Project has been fighting human trafficking for 10 years and will be celebrating its decade of work on Monday, June 17 in New York City.

Since its inception in 2009, Life Preservers Project (LPP) has devoted time and effort to increase awareness of human trafficking with the hope of ultimately eliminating the problem entirely.

The non-profit organization, led by Founder and President Shana Pederson, illustrates the unique ability of creating harmony between the legal industry and the art world. With a leadership core comprised of like-minded individuals from various legal backgrounds, LPP over the years has consistently delivered on its commitment to help eradicate this modern-day slavery.

“It has truly been one of the great honors of my career working with Life Preservers Project over these past 10 years,” emphasized Mike Quartararo, Executive Director. “We’ve been inundated with a tremendous amount of support from various legal professionals and artists due to the charitable nature of these communities, and, for that, my gratitude is everlasting. Without you, our victories simply aren’t possible.”

LPP, with the assistance of the legal community, artists and other professionals, has been able to provide monetary support to shelters harboring survivors of trafficking, as well as laptops, toiletries, undergarments and other supplies. LPP has also developed art programs in partnership with organizations such as New Alternatives, giving at-risk youth an extracurricular outlet for their creative energy and providing them future opportunities to lead workshops and mentor others.

"HaystackID applauds and supports the effort of the Life Preservers Project to raise awareness and funds to help combat human trafficking and the exploitation of women and girls," shared Hal Brooks, CEO of HaystackID. "Providing a voice and financial support to help those who are not able to speak for themselves is honorable and important, and our hope is that others will join us in contributing time, effort and funds to this noble effort led by the Life Preservers Project."

"Epiq is proud to support the Life Preservers Project," said Roger Pilc, president and general manager of global legal solutions at Epiq. "We are inspired by what this organization has accomplished over the last 10 years and hope with our contribution, they can continue to fight against human trafficking for another 10 years."

On June 17, Life Preservers Project will celebrate its 10 year anniversary atop the Moxy Hotel at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar & Lounge. The event boasts a James Bond theme and encourages guests to come dressed as their favorite Bond character.

The evening will include an assortment of one-of-a-kind art pieces donated by several talented artists from around the country; each art piece will be available for guests to bid on. Featured artists and their Instagram profiles include:
