2014 CCSU Construction Industry Award Winner Is KBE Building Corp.'s Kenneth Russo
Online, May 8, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) has bestowed its coveted 2014 Construction Industry Award upon KBE Building Corp.'s Kenneth Russo. Russo is a 40-year construction industry veteran and has served as KBE's Director of Preconstruction since 2002.
Russo was chosen based on criteria set by the college's Industrial Advisory Board. In 2014, he demonstrated the utmost skill, integrity, and responsibility while making a significant contribution to the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry. He has served on the CCSU Advisory Board for 14 years, including two years as its chairperson, and has been instrumental in ongoing improvements to CCSU's construction management program.
"I am honored to receive this award from Central Connecticut State University, particularly because higher education project delivery is a specialty of mine," said Russo. "It's great to be recognized by a school with such a high standard for construction management education."
This honor is neither the first for Russo nor for KBE. Russo also won the 2012 Connecticut Building Congress (CBC) Appreciation Award and the 2007 American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) Estimator of the Year Award. He also won Madison "Who's Who in Construction Executives & Professionals" awards from 2005-2006 and 2010-2011.
Recently, the Connecticut chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors bestowed six awards upon KBE, including its most prestigious honor, the Merit Cup.
As their Director of Preconstruction, Russo works alongside KBE's project executives to create a smooth transition from the preconstruction process to the construction phase. He ensures that all services meet KBE's high standards, which include on-time and on-budget project completion.
Russo has an associate's degree in architectural engineering from St. Mary College. He is a past president of the Connecticut Building Congress (CBC) and an officer and treasurer for the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE).
"I am delighted that Ken has won the 2014 CCSU Construction Industry Award," said KBE President and principal owner Mike Kolakowski. "He is an employee of the highest caliber. We're privileged to have had him on our team for the past 12 years."
Russo received the award on May 6, 2014 during the Construction Management Awards Dinner at the CCSU Campus Alumni Hall in New Britain.
