William Collentro To Help Moderate ULTRAPURE WATER Pharma 2013

William V. Collentro, senior consultant with Water Consulting Specialists, will be a co-moderator of ULTRAPURE WATER (UPW) Pharma 2013, to be conducted here June 11-12, 2013, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Lombard, which is in the greater Chicago area.

Mr. Collentro has dedicated more than 44 years to water treatment and purification. In 1993, he founded Water Consulting Specialists, a family owned business that is now in its second generation of leadership. Mr. Collentro presently provides expert consulting to the company as a senior consultant.

In recent years, he has also served as a visiting assistant professor at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is the author of Pharmaceutical Water: System Design, Operation, and Validation, that had its second edition published in 2010 by Informa Healthcare, New York, N.Y. Additionally, Mr. Collentro has published more than 100 technical articles, including several that appeared in ULTRAPURE WATER journal. Mr. Collentro is a member of several technical societies, and was the 1998 recipient of the PDA James P. Agalloco Award for excellence in teaching.

He will co-moderate the meeting with Anthony Bevilacqua, Ph.D., the director of research and product development at METTLER-TOLEDO Thornton.

UPW Pharma will feature two sessions-one on microbial control in Purified Water systems, and a second on control in pharmaceutical water systems. Registration is open for this year's ULTRAPURE WATER Pharma at www.ultrapurewater.com.

"Microbial Control in Purified Water Systems" will be the session theme on Tuesday, Junes 11. Tuesday's session will begin with a presentation entitled, "Biofilm Control in Manufacturing/Water Systems" by Mark Pasmore, Ph.D., from Baxter. That will be followed by Mukesh Yadav and Remy Olabode of Genentech, who will examine engineering controls in pharmaceutical water. Other planned speakers for Tuesday include Roderick Freeman of Beckman Coulter,. Nik Krpan of Cheme' Engineering Inc., Erika Hanley-Onken of MKS Instruments, Antonio Hernandez-Cardoso, of the United States Pharmacopeial Convention Inc., and Walter Henkel of Concordia ValSource.

The overall theme for Day 2 will be "Control of Pharmaceutical Water Systems." The day will begin with a presentation by Robert McIlvaine, president of McIlvaine Co., on pharmaceutical water markets. He will be followed by Shlomo Sackstein of Biopharmax Group, who will address the theme of "A Treatment System Based on Electrical Hardness Precipitation and UV Destruction".

Other technical paper topics to be addressed on Wednesday will include TOC reduction, calibration methods for conductivity measurements, cosmetic plant water treatment, ozone and chemical sanitization, and TOC sample capture. Other Wednesday speakers will include Randy Cooper of NeoTech Aqua Solutions, John Groetsch of METTLER-TOLEDO Process Analytics, Chris Gallager of Mar Cor, Nissan Cohen of Rohrback Cosasco Systems Inc., Terry Stange of Hach ULTRA, Roger Schmid of SWAN Analytical, Chris Crone of Hach ULTRA, and Hugh Miranzadeh, GE Analytical Instruments.
