Florida's Heartland Regional Economic Development Initiative (FHREDI) President/CEO, Gina Reynolds, has been appointed by the U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary, Penny Pritzker to serve a two-year term on the Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness.

The Committee, comprised of 40 senior-level representatives of supply chain companies, associations, and community organizations from across the nation, will advise the Secretary, and the U.S. Department of Transportation on issues that affect the international competitiveness of U.S. businesses. The Advisory Committee will act as a liaison between industry and government and will provide detailed advice on the elements of a comprehensive national freight infrastructure and freight policy to support U.S. supply chain and export competitiveness. The Committee's work is intended to further the federal government's efforts to expand U.S. exports of goods and services and to create economic opportunities for American businesses.

Governor Rick Scott said, "As we work to create even more jobs for the next generation, helping Florida families keep more of the money they earn and investing in our ports is key to our success. That's why this year we worked to promote a $500 million reduction in taxes and fees and why we remain committed to providing our ports with the tools they need to connect us to global commerce and become a destination for the world's jobs. I am confident that Gina Reynolds will continue to do what is best for Florida families as a member of the Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness."
"Global Logistics and Distribution as well as Manufacturing play a vital role in the FHREDI region's economic development strategy. Gina's leadership continues to help the region and the state reach our potential and we are excited to have her represent us on such an important national committee," said Al Perry, Chair of the FHREDI Board of Directors.

FHREDI is a regional economic development organization that represents the rural communities in South Central Florida. The targeted industries of the region are global trade and logistics, manufacturing, food processing and medical. FHREDI's purpose is to market, facilitate and advocate for economic development opportunities that will bolster the tax base and personal income for these areas.

"I am honored to serve with such an esteemed group of industry and community leaders who are shaping the future of the nation," said Gina Reynolds. "Contributing to strategies and policies that will expand U.S. exports of goods and services, creating economic opportunities for American businesses and workers as well as improving the competitiveness of the transportation network align perfectly with the economic development strategies of our rural communities."
