Travelling Artist Completes Mural for Sunnyside Auto Repair Centers
SALEM - May 2, 2012 - Sunnyside Auto Repair Centers announces completion of their building-sized mural. Travelling artist and Virginia-based muralist Daniel Johnson was retained for the project, which he began in mid-April.
Online, May 3, 2012 (Newswire.com) - As part of a facelift project on the entire building, Owner Alex McClelland decided that a building sized mural for South Salem was in order. While searching online for an artist, he found Mr. Johnson who was travelling throughout the US, creating art and doing odd jobs all along the way.
The new mural showcases 20 cars from various eras with old and new models. McClelland said his goal with the wraparound mural was to pay tribute to cars he has owned, cars he has worked on, and cars his friends have had. Mustangs, Corvettes, muscle cars, 1960's era hot rods, and a variety of trucks, foreign and domestics - are all over the Sunnyside Auto Repair Building which is located at 1119 Boone Road SE.
"My favorite car of all time is a 1934 Ford three-window coupe - it's a very iconic car in the automotive realm. It was featured in the movie "The California Kid", says Mr. McClelland, and is among the cars in my mural."
