The Bug Hounds Set To Take The Field At Columbus Clippers Stadium For Slice Of Columbus 2011

First Year At Huntington Park For Popular Nationwide Children's Hospital Event

When Huntington Park opens its doors on Wednesday, it won't be the Governor's Cup-winning Columbus Clippers taking the field. Instead, Columbus's own Bug Hounds will be performing on the stadium field for Slice of Columbus 2011.

Organized by the Development Board of Nationwide Children's Hospital, the Slice of Columbus has become one of Columbus's largest annual events for pizza-lovers and music-lovers alike. Now in its 22nd year, the event was held at the Lifestyle Communities Pavilion for the past four years. Due to the increasingly-successful turnout - over 4,500 attendees in 2010 alone - the event has now outgrown the LC Pavilion and moved to Huntington Park.

Pizza aficionados will be able to enjoy all-you-can-eat pizza from twenty of the best pizza places in Columbus while jamming to music by the Bug Hounds. Families can enjoy an expanded children's area right out on the field with crafts and games. Voting for the Best Slice of Columbus for the "Judges Award" and the "People's Choice" will take place between 5 - 8 p.m, and the winners will be announced at 8:30 p.m. by local celebrity judges including QFM96's Wags and Elliott.

Local band the Bug Hounds will be performing at Slice of Columbus for the third year in a row, and this year marks their first time headlining the event. The Bug Hounds have been playing to central Ohio audiences since 1997, intermingling their original music with popular songs from the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. The band consists of Kevin Kraska, Bill Lovell, Bill Kurzenberger, Scott Stevenson, and Bill Creedon. The Bug Hounds were also recently mentioned in the September issue of the nationally-distributed Relix Magazine that features keyboardist Kurzenberger.

Tickets for the Slice of Columbus are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Attendees can also purchase a family pass for $35, which includes 2 adults and up to 3 children, plus 5 Pepsi products. Kids 5 and under are free. All proceeds will benefit Nationwide Children's Hospital.
