Thailand Debuts Free International Magazine - Medica Tourism

Bangkok - THAILAND. Thailand's medical tourism industry goes into high
gear with Medica Tourism, a publication produced in cooperation with the
Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The 120-page
monthly magazine is distributed free in 67 countries for two reasons:
• to empower patients worldwide with information on international
health services, and
• to help improve the health travel industry with information for industry
professionals and businessmen.
Medical tourism is a growing worldwide trend, where people travel overseas
for medical treatment, for health checks, dental and cosmetic surgery, for spa
or wellness and relaxation, as well as for traditional, alternative, and cuttingedge
medicine not available in the West.
Despite quality medical services available in the U.S.A. and Europe, patients still come to Asia for reasons
such as low cost and speed of service. In Europe and the West, a growing number of medical tourism
agents as well as insurance providers make the process for prospective patients even easier.
Some patients are hesitant to travel overseas for health care due to feedback such as lack of medical
service standards and medical malpractice insurance protection, but the health travel market continues to
expand. Hospitals beef up their reputation with excellent patient word-of-mouth feedback as well as with
international accreditation.
Medica Tourism magazine highlights the global opportunities for patients and medical practitioners as well
as for hospitals, surgeries, property investors, travel agents, hotels and related services.
More important, the magazine helps the many who are confused by the hype from the pro-medical tourism
lobby and the conflicting negative input from those who try and keep medical and drug profits in their home
countries by keeping patients from traveling overseas for medical services.

Thailand. Biographies of Thailand's best doctors and physicians as well as stories of patient experiences in
Thai hospitals are featured.
The magazine may include adult content, and the publisher strongly recommends adult guidance for minor
readers. "This magazine is for professional adults only. Certain health or medical material in this magazine
may be explicit. Please do not use this magazine if you would find these materials offensive," says
managing editor Supaporn Ch. Charoenying.
