December 4, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Test Equipment Distributors (TED) a Troy, Michigan based privately held Nondestructive Testing equipment, supplies, accessories, and service distributor announced that it has acquired the NDT division of Precision Images (PI) in Largo, FL. Test Equipment Distributors has been supplying the NDT Industry since 1971 and currently operates six distribution centers located across North America. In addition to its distribution operations, TED provides service and repair to all NDT equipment at their Troy, MI location that includes nationwide dispatch.
Nondestructive testing techniques are used in many industries including Aerospace, Defense, Automotive, Marine and Power Generation. With the endless push for lightweight parts, NDT has become increasingly necessary. Inspection of critical parts in the manufacturing stage as well as in-service inspection, greatly reduce the risk to human life and ultimate failure.
TED is in the process of purchasing PI's existing inventory and will continue to supply PI's current customer base.
