Terra Nova Predictions & What To Expect

With Stephen Spielberg at the helm of the production, you can say that the 4-million an episode-show is in apt hands. Terra Nova premieres September 26th.

An ABC report made a good point in its 2010 feature, titled, 9 Sensational Sci-fi Ideas that Came True, on a proven trend that scientists and productive developers have long been utilizing the imaginative genii of science fiction writers and movie makers for inspiration.

"It's incestuous," science fiction writer and futurist Brenda Cooper told ABC. "I think there's a sort of constant dialogue that goes with science fiction writers and scientists and product designers."

A few examples that get named include synthetic biology, the iPad, touch-screens, the iPhone, the blue-tooth, and robots. Sci-fi predictions are one thing. Although what some people are predicting about the soon to be premiered Fox show, Terra Nova, might be more plausible, the outcome remains the same: we won't know for sure until the night of the premiere and even then, producers say to give the show space for development.

Future episodes for the much-anticipated show were ordered and filming had already gone underway, which pretty much makes Terra Nova all set for viewership. This is quite understandable, considering the amount of production and special-effects that go into each episode, producers probably want to get filming out of the way first.

It would be interesting, though, to see how the show fares without viewer input. Although a TV show can't feed too much into what the viewer wants, televised series which occur progressively over a flux of time should anticipate their audience. And by doing so, an invisible but viable undercurrent of conversation will begin between viewers and the actual show, fostering a true rapport that will eventually strengthen loyal viewership.

With Stephen Spielberg at the helm of the production, you can say that the 4-million an episode-show is in apt hands. A masterful storyteller himself, Spielberg intuits that Terra Nova can't just be based on innovative technology and special effects. The producers of the show, the cast members, and viewers have to find out who these people populating Terra Nova are. And again, by doing so, only will an engaging dialogue begin as the audience start to care and find themselves associating with their favorite character.

According to ABC's Ki Mae Heusner, science fiction writers and scientists have long mirrored each others' work. And you can see that collaboration and dialogue being implemented between film-makers via world events. Tastemakers/trendsetters, whose job description entitles them to predict what the next big thing is, are continuing to watch closely to what's relevant out there
Terra Nova's executive producer, Rene Echevarria told The Washington Post that, "If Terra Nova Season 1 is a success, you'll see shows trying to imitate it, to capture that same magic."

Already with all the hype surrounding the show, this could make Fox's Terra Nova one of the more relevant shows to watch out for. Or this could just become another prediction gone sour, but other than that, the only way to know for sure is to watch the show for yourself.
