This summer people across the UK will be celebrating National Parks Week. The aim of the campaign is to get people actively using their local outdoor spaces for fun and exercise. Organisers are keen to stress that parks are for everyone.

The theme of the weeklong event is 'Actively Yours'. Walking on the turf in one of the many parks around the UK is a great way to relax. Over 30 million people in England regularly use their green spaces. A tenth of the population visit daily and over half visit every week.

Experts also argue that people making regular trips to their parks are less likely to be affected by illnesses such as stress.
