Surf Ski Week in Mauritius

The 24th to the 29th of June 2013 will see Mauritius celebrate Surf Ski Week, culminating in the Ocean Classic surf ski race.

A surf ski is a long and narrow open kayak which you sit on top of with a foot pedal controlled rudder and has become a popular sport in Mauritius.

This year is the 5th edition of the Mauritius Ocean Classic, a race which will form part of the Ocean Paddle World Surf Ski Series. The course in Mauritius is one of the best downwind courses in the entire series and is a real challenge to lovers of the sport.

The event is a great place for people with a passion for surf ski to get together and takes place at the Tamassa resort. If you enjoy surf ski than the race is a wonderful opportunity to take a holiday to Mauritius. The event is organised by fellow ski surfers and is family friendly, in fact the Race Management team actively promote the involvement of family and friends, so a good time will be had by all.

The race itself takes place on the 29th of June, and the week leading up to it includes training sessions with professionals, fun surf ski games and trials and dinners together at the resort. The week is really a sociable and fun event, which leads up to the friendly competitive race at the end of the week. At the end of the race there is a prize giving and a final dinner together for people to celebrate the week.
