Sun Sea and Snacks! Tradition Triumphs This Half Term

Forget DVDs, electronic games and theme parks, a new survey has revealed that British families are abandoning technology and bringing a revival in traditional days out, snacks and games this half term.

The survey, commissioned by brand new snack Ambrosia Custard Coated Fruit Flakes, found that from 522 parents polled, a massive 86 per cent were choosing to be beside the seaside with their families this school break, with fewer than 10 per cent of people planning trips to theme parks and the cinema.

Regionally, over two thirds (69 per cent) of families in Yorkshire will be crowding the coastline, whilst in the South West almost half of (45 per cent) of parents can be found with their kids at the zoo. Visits to historic sites and picnics in the park are also at the top of the agenda, proving that the traditional British summer is still in favour.

The survey also revealed that nearly 60 per cent of families would be spending between one and two hours travelling on days out and that technology was again being trumped as a way of entertainment. Surprisingly, handheld computer games and portable DVD players were bottom of the car entertainment list, with parents favouring the traditional tactics of packing fun and tasty snacks for the journey, and playing I-Spy and car colour games to keep their kids busy.

Combining tradition with convenience, Ambrosia Custard Coated Fruit Flakes mix the nation's favourite flavours of apple and banana with custard, so families everywhere can enjoy a traditional taste of Britain wherever they are this summer. The treat-sized packets also mean less mess and reduce the chance of sticky fingers on the car seats!

Available in two combinations, apple and custard and banana and custard, the Ambrosia snacks are sold in handy multi-packs from Sainsbury's and Morrisons stores, priced from £1.89.
