Come, and the sizzling summer of Gurgaon and Delhi is all set to turn 'cool'! One of the biggest school events in Gurgaon - the annual Summer Fest of Meenakshi World School - is geared up to be bigger and better. The 3-week extravaganza will host a variety of workshops ranging from creative fields, martial arts, to technology, and Sports and Fitness. A regular feature for school going children on the Gurgaon summer calendar, Meenakshi's Summer Fest 2013 will be held between 3rd June and 21st of June. The workshops are designed for children from the age of 3 to 15 years, and include Puppet Making, Western Dance, Dramatics, Drawing & Painting, Art & Craft, Taekwondo, Skating, Glass Printing/ Pottery, Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Mighty Mice (Computers), and Creative Writing & English Oratory etc. As always the registration is open on a first-come-first-serve basis, and is open to children across the NCR.

"This is going to be the 4th edition of theMeenakshi Summer Fest," says Ms. Praveen Malhotra, Senior Coordinator of Meenakshi World School."The original idea was to provide avenues to children to explore various activities during their summer break. Over the last 3 summers this fest has grown exponentially, with more and more students utilizing their vacations productively in enhancing their inherent talent. The atmosphere is amazingly vibrant; children get a chance to pursue a discipline of their choice wholeheartedly and therefore pick things up very quickly. Infact, both teachers of all three Meenakshi schools - Meenakshi Public School, Meenakshi World School, and Blooming Buds - are as excited about these sessions as the kids!"

Interestingly, most of the registrants for Meenakshi Summer Fest 2013, so far, are those who have attended camps in the earlier summers. The new registrants are mostly through word-of-mouth.Since the last year was heavily subscribed, this year the number of seats has been increased marginally, so that kids looking for opportunities to explore don't go back disappointed.

"A relaxed, fun environment is a sure shot way to stimulate the child's creativity, self confidence and problem solving skills," concludes Ms. Malhotra. "And parents are increasingly becoming aware of this side of learning."
