Suchitra Academy in collaboration with Cyber Chess Academy welcomed Mr Ali Nihat Yazici , Vice President , Federation Internationale Des Échecs, usually referred to as FIDE or World Chess Federation and Chairman-Chess in schools Commission-FIDE.

FIDE is an international organization that connects the various national chess federations around the world and acts as the governing body of international chess competitions. Mr Ali Nihat Yazici was in the city to promote chess in schools and plan programmes and activities for the future. The other dignitaries present were Mr Lanka Ravi, our state's first International Master and Asian Gold Medalist and founder of Cyber Chess Academy , Maj Shiva Prasad and Mr Praveen Raju MD Suchitra Education Trust.

The program started with welcoming Mr Yazici. Mrs Renu Shorey, the school principal introduced the chief guest and highlighted the efforts of the school in promoting chess.

Mr Yazici, in his speech, was all praise for the beautiful campus and appreciated the efforts of the school in promoting chess among the children. He also highlighted the aim of chess which is to help children earn knowledge and develop a good personality. He stressed that India being the birthplace of the game of chess, there is tremendous potential among the children which just needs to be honed in order to produce more Grand Masters. He promised to consider the school as a venue for any FIDA rated chess competitions in the future. Mr Yazici also played a game of chess with Maj Shiva Prasad displaying his excellent strategizing skills. This was very interesting as the children were the chess pieces and the floor was the chess board!

Many parents attended this function and the children were greatly motivated by Mr Yazici's presence.

The program ended with a Vote Of Thanks by Mrs Deepa Kapoor, the school coordinator.
