SSD Attorney Neil H. Good Attends NOSSCR Conference

NOSSCR Conference: Not Racing, But Information to Help Those Seeking Disability Benefits

Attorney Neil H. Good, with offices in Palatine, Chicago and Lake, DuPage and McHenry counties, has returned from the conference of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants' Representative in Philadelphia.

The conference was held in early May in downtown Philadelphia. NOSSCR was established in 1979 and includes more than 4,000 attorneys and advocates dedicated to providing quality representation and advocacy for those people seeking disability benefits.

Good, whose practice concentrates on Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income cases, is a past presenter at the semi-annual conference.

The conference offers a chance for disability attorneys and advocates to learn more about best practices for Social Security claims and to "enhance practitioners' skills in providing the highest quality representation for Social Security and SSI applicants."

Workshop topics typically are wide and varied. This most recent conference included an introduction to Social Security Law for new practitioners, the elements of a good cross-examination at hearings, tips for writing effective pre-hearing memorandums for the administrative law judge, how unemployment benefits affect a disability claim, the unique challenges presented in cases involving those 17 years old and younger and better ways to run a law practice.

Attending the conference can provide representatives with invaluable information. "I always take away many items of value from these conferences," said Good, who has been in practice for 25 years. "Of course, I've been helping people obtain benefits for many years. But maybe another advocate has a great tip on conducting a cross examination, or has insights into the pre-hearing memo. Attending the workshops and learning about what works for others helps me be an even better advocate for my clients."

The next conference will be held in October in Seattle.
Attorney Neil H. Good offers compassionate, experienced and effective legal representation to those seeking disability benefits. There are no upfront legal fees; applicants pay no fees unless they win. He has five offices in Chicago and the collar counties, to serve clients wherever they live.
