Local author Mark Wooden has placed his urban fantasy short story "False Messiah: A Tale of the Shadowdance" out-of-print. The story followed a vampire assassin who targets a pop star who may be a messiah for Good in the battle that is the Shadowdance.

"'False Messiah' was an early draft of an early chapter in the first Shadowdance novel," Wooden explains. "With the release of that novel, 'Messiah" is nothing more than an alternate take on the tale. To avoid confusion in the saga timeline, I'm taking 'Messiah' out-of-print."

Though the book will go out-of-print, it will be available as a free download at Shadowdancesaga.com.

"False Messiah" was the first self-published work from the "Shadowdance" saga. It was available as an eBook through various distributors. "Shadowdance: Invitation to the Dance" is the first novel in the Shadowdance saga. It mixes Jason Bourne-style action and intrigue with the supernatural horrors of the Old World.

What would you do if given a chance for redemption by a man who wants you to help him destroy the world?

Adriana Dupre finds herself in this situation in "Shadowdance: Invitation to the Dance."

A vampire and an assassin, Adriana had been duped into killing her ancestors. Now on a self-destructive path of vengeance, a sorcerer offers her a chance at redemption. He has information about her sister who is alive as a vampire. Adriana can save her from a life of evil. All Adriana need do is retrieve for him three magical shards which will give him the power to destroy the world.

While on this quest, Adriana will meet the Knights of Vyntari, warriors who protect the shards. She will also encounter werewolves who may be her surviving ancestors and neo-Nazis who use the power of magic to further their supremacist intent.

"I think of the Shadowdance Saga as the literary answer to movies like "Underworld" and "Blade," Wooden says. "The novel allows the readers to immerse themselves in the lives of the characters, explore their intriguing motives and back-story. With the Saga series, readers will revel in the intrigue and the interlocking lives of the characters."

Confront vampires, demons, werewolves and sorcerers from the comfort of an eBook.

About Mark Wooden
The son of a sharecropper (not really), Mark Wooden has actively pursued the dream of being a Creative since his first epic kindergarten work, "Ne-Ne the Vampire Panda."

Though he prefers movies and comic books, Mark chose the novel as his creative outlet. They don't cost anything to write, don't have a budget and he is the only person who can slow his progress.

Mark uses his decade of experiences on the road as a video engineer to place human emotion into "Shadowdance," his urban fantasy conspiracy. He makes monsters human and, sometimes, makes humans monsters by examining stereotypes and reimaging them into new icons for the modern reader.

Through "Shadowdance," Mark allows readers to confront vampires, demons, werewolves and sorcerers from the comfort of an eBook.

"Shadowdance: Invitation to the Dance" is his first novel.
