Pro-Pet Issues Recall of Hubbard Life, Joy Combo and QC Plus Pet Food Products
Pro-Pet LLC of St. Marys, Ohio has called a voluntary recall of certain Dry Dog and Cat Foods citing the possibility of Salmonella contamination. A field test revealed that certain products have potential for contamination. The affected products were manufactured on one production line during a specific two day period. This recall is a voluntary and cautionary action by Pro-Pet LLC. No reports of pet or human illness have surfaced to date.
Salmonella can affect pets when it is consumed in their food. The risk to humans is in the handling of contaminated product, especially if hands are not washed immediately after handling the product.
Otherwise healthy people who have become infected with Salmonella should take notice if any or all of these symptoms present: nausea and vomiting, diarrhea or blood in stool, abdominal cramps or fever. Salmonella can also result in more serious problems but these instances are rare.
Pets infected with Salmonella may become lethargic and develop diarrhea or bloody stool, have a fever and nausea with vomiting. Some pets will only show a decrease in appetite and suffer abdominal discomfort. Infected pets can also carry and spread Salmonella with no outward symptoms. If your pet has been exposed to any of the recalled products and has presented with these symptoms, contact their veterinarian right away.

These products were distributed throughout the United States through various retailers and online vendors. No other products or lot numbers are reported to have been affected.
Customers should discontinue using the affected products immediately and contact Pro-Pet at 1-888-765-4190 for further instructions.
