Rebel Films Releases Award-winning "Avenge" on DVD!

Online, April 3, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Rebel Films, fresh off of their award-winning turn at The Indie Fest, announces the Home Video release of their second feature film, "Avenge" on April 2, 2014. The film is a crime story, featuring Elizabethan dialogue, in a modern-day setting (New York's famed Little Italy district). The screenplay by director Gregory Christian weaves together five of William Shakespeare's most famous plays (Hamlet, The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, and King Lear) into a brand-new tale of mafia love and revenge.

Don Asissi rules the bloody landscape of New York's famed Little Italy with an iron fist. His eldest child, and only daughter Sophia, is married to his best "soldier" Michael Mancini. She will never be the head of the family as long as her two brothers, Malcolm and Donnie, continue to live. Together with her husband, she plots to kill her father and frame her brothers, thereby usurping the position for Michael. Meanwhile, with the help of three supernatural gypsies, a mob widow plots to avenge the murder of her husband at the hands of Don Asissi. They systematically bring upon the rise and fall of each member of the leading mafia families. The three gypsies also kidnap and brainwash Juliet, the Moronis' daughter, and the Widow Balducci's key to the future of the mafia in New York.

The film holds the distinction of being the first Shakespearean "collage" since Orson Welles' acclaimed "Chimes at Midnight" from 1965. The movie features 1980's soap star Mark Arnold (Teen Wolf, One Life to Live, Santa Barbara) and the daughter of television icon June Lockhart (Lassie, Lost in Space, Petticoat Junction), Anne Lockhart (Lieutenant Sheeba on the original Battlestar Galactica).
