Raising Awareness Of Micro-Preemies With An Evening Of Micro-Tinis

Graham's Foundation will honor the parents of severely premature babies with a fundraiser featuring custom cocktails in miniature.

Graham's Foundation, a non-profit organization offering practical and emotional support to the parents of infants born before 29 weeks gestation, has partnered with the Illinois Maternal & Child Health Coalition (IMCHC) to host a one-of-a-kind night out on Thursday, August 18 to raise funds and pay tribute to the moms and dads of micro-preemies. The Chicago Micro-Tinis for Micro-Preemies event will take place at the Hotel Palomar Chicago, where attendees will sip flights of Tito's Handmade Vodka micro-tinis while listening to inspiring stories of miracle babies and bidding in a silent auction on items like a two-night stay at the Hotel Palomar Chicago and dinner the Sable Kitchen & Bar.

"When we create fundraisers, one of our primary goals is always to raise awareness of not only how common prematurity is, but also of just how courageous and dedicated the parents of micro-preemies are," said Nick Hall, who founded Graham's Foundation with his wife Jennifer after they experienced the birth of twins at just 25 weeks before facing the trials of the NICU and the death of one child.

"We are incredibly grateful for the support we continue to receive because it allows us to give what comfort we can to the parents of micro-preemies during what is likely one of the most difficult periods of their lives. Our ongoing series of Micro-Tinis for Micro-Preemies events honors the courage and commitment of the moms and dads who live through the journey of severe prematurity."

Janine Lewis, Executive Director at IMCHC, added: "The Coalition is happy to partner with Graham's Foundation on this event and to support the Foundation's efforts to provide care packages to families of extremely premature infants. Parents of micro-preemies need all the support they can get when their child is in the NICU, and as the infant transitions to the home setting."

Every year 50,000 micro-preemie babies are born in the United States. These babies often require intensive medical care for months, and their parents find themselves dealing with extreme emotions and practical issues that are difficult to overcome.
