CEO to Speak on Project Independence and You Radio Show

Tom Cerna, Founder and CEO of will be the guest on the Project Independence and You Radio Show to air on WCWP 88.1 FM, LIU Post Public Radio serving Nassau County.

The interview will take place on Friday, December 5, 2014 from 10:30 am to 11:00 am on WCWP 88.1 FM.  Mr. Cerna will discuss, a  a website connecting homeowners who are in need of help with a variety of projects around the home, with capable neighborhood teens and young adults who are available and able to efficiently manage the required tasks.  Mr. Cerna will provide relevant information on how can be an essential service to senior citizens, especially during the approaching winter season when the elderly can benefit from the assistance of mature, reliable youth who have demonstrated personal responsibility, great work ethics and entrepreneurial skills. 

The Project Independence and You Radio Show is produced in cooperation with the Town of North Hempstead Depart of Services for the aging whose mission is to assist and enable aging residents of the Town to remain in their own homes and familiar surroundings as they grow older, if this is their choice. This multi-service initiative involves coordination with many community partners. can play an instrumental role in supporting the Project Independence mission by providing senior citizens with an easy, user-friendly site to address their needs by hiring and working with responsible neighborhood job seekers who are ready, willing and able to perform these assignments.  Through’s web based platform, senior citizens can post their tasks which can range from transportation to and from doctor visits, shoveling snow, running errands, picking up groceries and a multitude of various chores which may be difficult for the elderly to accomplish during the cold weather months.  Senior citizens can all rest assured that they are hiring capable indviduals by viewing the job seekers Personal Profile Page including interests, abilities, achievements, and work history.  Both senior citizens and young adults can utilize and benefit from the site by finding the right candidate for the job and the right job for the candidate.   Essentially, is a community-based exchange of services built upon a foundation of reliability and trust.
