U.S. Women's Chamber Endorses Elizabeth Esty for Congress Representing Connecticut's 5th District

Elizabeth Esty receives a 100% rating from the U.S. Women's Chamber of Commerce as a champion of women's economic priorities and is endorsed by the Women's Chamber for Connecticut's 5th Congressional District.

“I am proud to announce the endorsement of the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce (http://www.uswcc.org) for Elizabeth Esty in the race for Connecticut’s 5th Congressional District,” stated Margot Dorfman, CEO. “Esty thrives on supporting her community and has proven she will work hard in Congress to spur job creation and economic development for residents of Connecticut’s 5th District.”

“Representative Esty is a leading champion of women’s economic priorities, receiving a one-hundred percent rating from the U.S. Women’s Chamber of Commerce,” continues Dorfman.  “Elizabeth Esty supports a positive economic environment for women workers and business owners, American job creation, fair pay, a fair minimum-wage, family-friendly workplaces, access to affordable/quality healthcare and birth control, policies that support a vibrant middle class and access to capital and federal contracts for women-owned firms,” continues Dorfman.

“Esty has been a staunch supporter of families; she supports the Paycheck Fairness Act, raising the minimum wage to $10.10 and the FAMILY Act,” adds Dorfman. “Elizabeth Esty also supports small businesses stating, “Access to capital is vital for small businesses, and Congress can and should do more to ensure that women-owned firms benefit from programs that allow entrepreneurs to grow their businesses and create jobs. Esty is among a group of House members leading the effort to provide funding for the Microloan Technical Assistance Program that assists aspiring entrepreneurs in navigating borrowings options for establishing new businesses,” adds Dorfman. “Women own 98,000 Connecticut firms employing 93,000 workers.”

“Esty also believes a woman’s health care decisions should be made by the woman, her family, and her doctor – not by her employer,” continues Dorfman. “Rep. Esty is a strong supporter of the Affordable Care Act’s provision that requires coverage for birth control with no out-of-pocket cost – pointing out that over 27 million women have already benefited from this provision.”

“Elizabeth Esty is the type of clear, committed leader we need in Washington to support women’s economic priorities. We are proud to endorse her candidacy.”
