The Korea Society 58th Annual Dinner

President of the World Bank Group to give keynote address at The Korea Society Annual Dinner

The Korea Society, the foremost American organization dedicated to U.S.-Korea relations, will host its 2015 Annual Dinner at the Plaza Hotel in New York City on Monday, June 22 at 6 PM. Dr. Jim Yong Kim, the President of World Bank Group, will deliver the keynote address. “We are honored to welcome Dr. Kim, a distinguished expert on world health issues and a renowned education leader,” said Chairman Thomas Hubbard. “We look forward to his remarks on the World Bank’s continuing initiatives to fight global poverty.”

The Society will present its Van Fleet Award, given annually to one or more distinguished Koreans or Americans in recognition of their outstanding contributions to U.S.-Korea relations, to Dr. Kim Ho Youn, founder of the Kim Koo Foundation and Chairman and CEO of Binggrae Co. Ltd. Former U.S. Ambassador to South Korea Kathleen Stephens will accept the award on his behalf.

We are honored to welcome Dr. Kim, a distinguished expert on world health issues and a renowned education leader. We look forward to his remarks on the World Bank's continuing initiatives to fight global poverty.

Musical interludes will include performances by Jin-Taek Lim, a master of Pansori, the UNESCO recognized vocal tradition, as well as UNRocks, a band comprised of Ambassadors to the United Nations from Denmark, Kingdom of Tonga, Republic of Korea, Romania, Serbia, and the Kingdom of Thailand.

The Korea Society is a nonprofit organization with individual and corporate members, dedicated solely to the promotion of greater awareness, understanding, and cooperation between the U.S. and Korea. In pursuit of its mission, the Society arranges programs that facilitate discussion, exchanges, and research on topics of vital interest to both countries in the areas of public policy, business, education, intercultural relations, and art.
