Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite Earns Green Key Accolades for Its Eco-Friendly Initiatives

The Double Silver LEED-certified resort leverages green philosophy in guest rooms, operations and more to effectively reduce carbon footprint

Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite has achieved a 4 Green Key rating through the Green Key Eco-Rating Program, acknowledging its exemplary dedication to environmentally conscious procedures across multiple operational areas. This is the second-highest ranking on the Green Key scale.

A 4 Green Key rating demonstrates that Tenaya Lodge has shown national industry leadership and commitment to protecting the environment through its wide-ranging policies and practices. The hotel has mature programs in place that involve management, employees, guests, and the public, and which have shown substantial and measurable results.

The Double Silver LEED-certified resort is committed to preserving natural resources and reducing its footprint. As part of the proprietary GreenPath program developed by owner/operator Delaware North, Tenaya Lodge ensures environmental stewardship through practices and technology in operational procedures, guest room construction, food service and more.

“We’re constantly looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment,” said Paul Ratchford, General Manager. “We take pride in keeping our beautiful surroundings just that, to ensure future generations get to experience and enjoy them. We are proud of our team for their roles in this fantastic recognition and look forward to advancing our eco-friendly practices and innovations.”

The recipients of the Keep America Beautiful Award and State of California Waste Reduction Award, Tenaya Lodge leverages its own wastewater treatment plant and water and energy-saving fixtures in every guestroom, uses biodegradable laundry detergent and serves organic and sustainable food products, a few of many green practices the resort employs. Other accolades include a member of the Green Hotels Association, Gold Level in the TripAdvisor GreenLeaders Program and Environmentalist Level in the California Green Lodging Program.
