ew production company Taslitz/Reichenbach Productions makes their debut this summer with JOIN THE CLUB!, an original musical with book and lyrics by Lauren Taslitz and Leigh Anna Reichenbach, and music by Will Buck, Becky Menzie, Mike O'Mara, Leigh Anna Reichenbach, and Jonathan Wagner.  Directed by Heather Townsend, with music direction by Julie Crossen, the production runs July 9th - July 25th, 2015 at the Skokie Theater, 7924 Lincoln Ave, in Skokie. Press Opening is Saturday July 11, at 8pm.

Fast paced and lighthearted, JOIN THE CLUB! follows the story of rising lawyer Sara, who must do community service at the local women's club in order to make partner at her firm.  Joining in the club’s fight to rebuild a neighborhood shelter, Sara quickly finds herself in a conflict of cultures as she struggles to appreciate the importance of female friendship and community. An ensemble of strong and witty women accompany Sara along on her journey of self-discovery, offering insight into overcoming all of life’s major challenges, including marriage, children, Brazilian waxes, and flying coach.

"The core of the story comes from my own experience, but the message is universal to both women and men - It's so easy to get caught up in the game of 'success' that we sometimes forget what success really is. Is it money and power and the corner office, or is it being appreciated for who you truly are, appreciating others for who they truly are, and coming together to make a positive difference in the world?"

States Writer/Producer Lauren Taslitz, “The core of the story comes from my own experience, but the message is universal to both women and men - It’s so easy to get caught up in the game of ‘success’ that we sometimes forget what success really is. Is it money and power and the corner office, or is it being appreciated for who you truly are, appreciating others for who they truly are, and coming together to make a positive difference in the world?”

“It’s an upbeat message told in an upbeat way,” adds co-Writer/Producer Leigh Anna Reichenbach, “But the show also has a lot of heart, and we get to hear from voices that traditionally don’t get a lot of exposure in musical theater; Older women, stay-at-home-moms -  the members of your ‘typical’ suburban female community - except that there’s nothing typical about these communities. The women we based our story on are remarkable, loving, and strong people who could make any number of choices about how to spend their time, and choose to spend it helping others, and growing as individuals and as a team.”

JOIN THE CLUB! features Irene Kelly (Gabe), Elizabeth Mazur (Sara), Melissa Paris (MC), Glo Rolighed (Cynthia), and Anita Silvert (Bette), and will be stage managed by Hana Rickert. Musical Director Julie Crossen will accompany on piano, with Vinny Kabat (bass) and Nick Kabat (drums) completing the orchestra. The design team includes Charlotte Rathke (lighting design), Dave Budrys (sound design), and Toby Nicholson (set design).

General admission is $35. Senior and Student tickets are $29. Tickets are available online at skokietheatre.com; by phone at 847-677-7761; or at the Skokie Theatre box office at 7924 Lincoln Ave in Skokie.
