Tanaza Features Seamless Roaming for Multi-Vendor WLANs With Captive Portal

Tanaza CEO Sebastiano Bertani announced that Tanaza, the multi-vendor Wi-Fi management software, supports now seamless roaming on SSIDs with a captive portal.

Seamless roaming, usually available only for enterprise access points, is now at everyone’s fingertips, even for multi-vendor networks: on Ubiquiti, MikroTik, Tp-Link, D-Link, Netgear and many other access points.

Thanks to this innovation in the low-end market, Wi-Fi clients will be free to move around a Wi-Fi area without any disconnection, roaming from an access point to the other and keeping the same IP address.

We brought democracy in the Wi-Fi space by enabling advanced roaming on multi-vendor networks, even if made of cost-effective access points.

This feature enables multiple scenarios for wireless solution providers: “Before today, only big enterprise vendors and large system integrators could enable seamless roaming between access points and the cost of the hardware was prohibitive. We brought democracy in the Wi-Fi space by enabling advanced roaming on multi-vendor networks, even if made of cost-effective devices.” said Sebastiano Bertani. “Wi-Fi clients are now able to roam between a $15 TP-Link and a $400 dual-radio dual-band AP of a more performing brand, with no disconnection”.

Tanaza roaming doesn’t require to set all the access points on the same channel, avoiding interference between the devices. Wireless clients roam between APs and radios on different bands as well. Tanaza roaming includes also an advanced distributed authentication mechanism that allows Wi-Fi clients to move across the network after authentication without seeing the captive portal again.
