Step Sisters Brighten the Holidays for Breast Cancer Patients
Virginia-based charity uses Giving Tuesday funds to provide Christmas trees for those battling breast cancer.
ASHBURN, VIRGINIA, November 24, 2015 (Newswire.com) - The Step Sisters are proud to announce a unique and heartwarming variation on Giving Tuesday.
Partnering with DC Tree Delivery, the group will dedicate all funds raised from December 1 (Giving Tuesday) through December 6 towards providing Christmas trees for those undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
In recent years, charities have designated the Tuesday after Thanksgiving as a day to actively fundraise after the high volume shopping days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The Step Sisters approached Giving Tuesday differently; applying proceeds from six days to directly benefit this program.
“We typically raise money for the practical things a breast cancer patient needs such as transportation, food delivery and child care,” explains Ashley Campolattaro, Vice President and Co-Founder of The Step Sisters. “This year, we have turned Giving Tuesday into an opportunity to brighten the holidays for our local patients.”
The holiday program includes everything from delivery and set up of a fresh Christmas tree to removal and clean up after the holidays.
