Status Global Insurance Launches New EHIC in France Top-Up Insurance

Status Global Insurance has just launched a new and unique product called 'EHIC in France', which is top-up insurance for EU residents travelling to France with an EHIC.

Currently celebrating their 30th year in business, Status Global Insurance (SGI) has had a busy and exciting year.  With two new product launches over the past 6 months, they are excited to announce they have now launched a third new insurance product.  SGI are very excited to bring their new EHIC in France top-up cover product and dedicated website to the market.

So what is EHIC in France top-up cover?  This innovative new insurance product fills a real void in the market for individuals travelling to France and relying on their European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).  Unlike many EU countries that provide free (or nearly free) medical treatment, the French National Health system is part contributory.  This means that French residents, and visitors to France, are responsible for paying about 20-30% of their medical treatment charges.  The new EHIC in France top-up cover from SGI covers the 20-30% of medical charges not covered by the French National Health system.  It is important to note that as of the 1st July, 2014 the UK government ceased making reimbursements for European Health Insurance Card ‘EHIC’ co-payments.

In addition to covering the part-contributory payment, the EHIC in France product has a number of other fantastic, and unique, features that include: no upper age limit (unlike many travel insurance policies), no exclusions for pre-existing medical conditions (unlike many travel insurance policies), no medical screening (or medical questions), direct settlement of hospital bills, repatriation and funeral expense cover (not covered by the EHIC).  The application is online with instant documentation in English and it’s underwritten at Lloyd’s of London, which has an “A+” (Strong) Financial Security rating.

Sue O’Sullivan, Director at SGI says, “While purchasing travel insurance would cover the part-contributory charges not covered under the French National Health System, age restrictions, pre-existing medical conditions and cost can sometimes prevent this from being an option.  We think our new EHIC in France product really fills a void in the market for European individuals who need an alternative option to travel insurance when they travel to France.”
