Sir Pigglesworth Children's Book Series Is Set to Burst onto the Scene!

With great word-of-mouth and social media buzz behind it, the long-anticipated arrival of Sir Pigglesworth is upon us! The rambunctious royal rascal is poised to dominate the children's literature scene with it's imminent debut on Amazon.

It could be the biggest sensation to hit the scene in children’s literature since Winnie the Pooh and Curious George. Where in the World Is Sir Pigglesworth? is the brain-child of JoAnn and Bill Wagner from Mesquite, Texas, and it will be hitting Kindle on September 24, 2014 in English, with future versions to follow in multiple languages.  The full-color print edition will be available in English on Amazon a week later.

“We expect to publish a new adventure around the 25th of every month featuring a new city or country,” said Bill, the publicist and financial manager of the operation. “It took months to find the right illustrator to bring JoAnn’s vision to life. There will be a full-page, full-color scene on every two-page spread, with words and pictures to capture the imagination of kids from 2 to 8 years old – and their parents too.  And,” he added, “there will be a downloadable coloring book that comes out a couple of days before each new story, available free on our website.”

JoAnn, the creator of Sir Pigglesworth and creative force behind the series, says, “We are committed to bringing lessons about growing up as well as surviving and conquering the grade school experience to our children. But we want to make it fun and exciting. The adventures will have an educational foundation to give our little ones a close-up knowledge of some very basic geography and historical context as well as an understanding and acceptance of diverse cultures and people in the world we all share.”

Inspired by a small toy pig distributed by their church that accompanied them on all of their travels, the Sir Pigglesworth concept quickly grew into a full-blown mission. Bill and JoAnn both fast-tracked their retirement in order to dedicate all of their time to developing and executing their passion-based project.

“It’s taken over our lives,” said JoAnn, “but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Sir Pigglesworth is like our young child who needs and gets all of our attention. Our friends and church community have given us amazing support and encouragement, and they all share our excitement in bringing this project to market so that Sir Pigglesworth can start inspiring and teaching the children of a new generation.”

Together with co-author Sara Dean and content manager Andrea Williams, both of Buckhannon, WV, Bill and JoAnn held the first live promotional event in West Virginia on September 13th at the Upshur County Public Library.  This promotion was attended by Amanda Hayes, senior writer for the Record Delta in Buckhannon.  Her article appears in the Wednesday, September 17th edition.  There was also an afternoon reading at the Randolph County Arts Center in Elkins, WV.  JoAnn read the first book about Sir Pigglesworth’s adventures in London, and toy pigs were signed by JoAnn, Sara, and Andrea and distributed to all who attended, as the books are not yet in print.

“With the first book we wanted to introduce Sir Pigglesworth to the world as soon as possible,” said Bill. “He’s an ordinary kid with royal parents, which will make for some fun and interesting situations. We have a lot of great ideas for developing the characters and content as the series progresses, and we have first-class help from our creative crew (Sara and Andrea) and illustrator David Darchicourt.”

Sir Pigglesworth’s next adventure will be in Vancouver BC, Canada, and the eBook will be available Friday, October 24th with a book reading and pig signing on Saturday, October 25th.  Future adventures will take the piglet hero to New York City, Jerusalem (for Christmas), London to celebrate the New Year with his family, Paris, Dublin, and Orlando, for starters.

The first free coloring book is now available for download online. You can use the shortcut, sirpw.com, to access the site. You can also purchase the books there or subscribe to the monthly book club to get all of the Sir Pigglesworth adventures. The site is being developed with many new features, including a suggestion box where you will be able to submit your ideas for new places to send Sir Pigglesworth.
