Pre-school in Intramuros Turns 400 This 2020

Colegio de San Juan de letran, one of the oldest schools of the Philippines, reaches its quadricentennial, so does its elementary department and pre-school program.

Colegio de San Juan de Letran is an established and prominent college located in Intramuros, Manila. Letran has a rich history that dates back nearly 400 years from today when it was founded in the year 1620 by Don Juan Geronimo Guerrero as one of its founders. The most prominent track record of Colegio de San Juan de Letran is its list of famous graduates that range from celebrities, to heroes, and a saint.

As the school approaches its 400th year, so does its pre-school program.

Under the elementary department of Colegio de San Juan de Letran is the pre-school program which consists of the first two years of Kinder, and Preparatory. Pupils that are enrolled under Letran's basic education are aptly named Letran's Pages - the first stage of knighthood.

According to the principal of Letran's basic education Asst. Prof. Felife M. dela Cruz Jr., the Colegio's pre-school program has strong groundwork in continuing the 5R's essential to proper education: Reading, wRiting, aRithmetic, Right thinking, and Right attitude. He added that the Elementary levels of Letran adopts a "Spiral Approach" to learning which provides continuous reinforcement to accommodate the needs of the young students.

The Colegio is embedded in history as an icon of Philippine education and one of the oldest schools of the Philippines. The school is conveniently placed in one of the main entrances of the walled city of Intramuros.

Letran prides itself not only with its rich past and alumni, but also on the young pupils it harbours under its historical campus that will serve as the bright minds of tomorrow.
