In the Dead of Night by Claudio Macor Is the London Fringe's Hottest Show

In the Dead of Night, by Author/director Claudio Macor, a new play with dance at the London's Landor Theatre is this season's most acclaimed fringe show. Film Noir Live on Stage and Uncensored Until 16th May. 4 and 5-star reviews for acting, staging and award nominated choreography.

In the Dead of Night, by Author/director Claudio Macor, a new play with dance at London’s Landor Theatre is this season’s most acclaimed fringe show.  Acclaimed actress Judith Paris (Doctor Who, The Devils, The Rainbow) plays fading femme fatale Elvira, queen of the night, in her South American shantytown bar.  But it stands on the edge of destruction. Missing for a year, Leandro, son of the local drug cartel boss, returns with chilling news for his lover Massimo and indeed the whole town. Elvira, her old flame Falchi, her protégé Rita, the enigmatic Raul, and the rest of the regulars at Bar Tangueros are dancing toward disaster as classic 1940s film noir drama pulses to a burning Latin rhythm.  In the Dead of Night brings the classic dark, steamy atmosphere of film noir to the stage in this tale of eroticism, murder, and power freed from the censorship restrictions of the infamous Hollywood Production Code of the 1930s and ‘40s.

The show has been receiving 4 and 5-star reviews from a host of critics who have unilaterally applauded the innovative choreography woven into the action by Anthony Whiteman (Bel Ami) which has now received an “Offie” Award nomination for Best Choreography, set to composer Paul Boyd’s (Molly Wobbly) sumptuous original score for the play’s incidental music and dance.  The atmospheric film-like lighting by Richard Lambert is also receiving critical acclaim.

A well-crafted and original piece of theatre... splendid dance... rarely have I seen such an erotic tango

Judith Paris plays opposite Ned Wolfgang Kelly as her younger paramour Falchi, with Ross Harper Millar as seedy drug dealer Martinez. Tristan Robin is the enigmatic drifter Raul, paired with Susannah Allman as Elvira’s protégé Rita.  Jordan Alexander is gigolo Massimo, and introducing newcomer Matt Mella as the mob boss’s son Leandro.  The cast has also been described as possibly the most attractive ensemble in London today.
