Chicago, IL, June 5, 2015 (Newswire) -

Rebel Radio stays ROCK HARD for 21 years! Chicagoland’s favorite heavy metal, underground Station, Rebel Radio, founded by Scott Davidson, has been crankin’ up and crankin’ out the best in heavy metal since July 10th, 1994, and is now streaming WORLDWIDE, available exclusively at  RebelRadio.com.

Davidson has been rockin’ the Chicago area music scene in a variety of ways for many years.  As a percussionist for some of Chicago’s top bands including Stonehenge, Smoke, Earth N Grave, Septer, Judas Rising, Wet Animal, Stone Face Nation, and Heaven and Hell.  It was at a rehearsal for Stonehenge; when Davidson was approached by an employee of Z-Rock, offering him the opportunity to do a local show for a station called G-Force 1330, and so it began!

When asked in a 2012 interview by Evil Genius and the Sounds of the Underground, what kind of format the audience can expect from Rebel Radio Davidson replies, “Hard edge music, from old Black Sabbath, 1969, 1970 to Disturbed, Magadeth, Cannibal Corpse, the list goes on and on; anything with a hard edge that no other stations play.” Rebel Radio is also on the cutting edge of the heavy metal scene, often time being the first to introduce new bands and releases. Davidson says of the band Disturbed,”We were playing them two years before any station.”

Davidson brought his Rebel Radio heavy metal format to local stations including WKTA-AM, WJKL-FM, WVVX-FM, WYKT-FM, WSBC-AM, WCFJ-AM, AND WPJX-AM, promoting the concerts and albums of Heavy Metals’ heavy hitters, and Rebel Radio has interviewed some of the best!  Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath, Bruce Dickenson and Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, Rob Halford, Glenn Tipton, K.K. Downing of Judas Priest, Tom Araya, Jeff Hanneman and Dave Lombardo of Slayer, Dimebag Darrell, Vinnie Paul, Rex Brown and Phil Anselmo of Pantera, and Ronnie James Dio, just to name a few!

When Evil Genius brought up the subject of “Corporate Radio” and stations “without live DJ’s” Davidson replies, “Pretty much every big station these days has a computer that they know what songs are playing two weeks from tomorrow. They just (the DJ), come in sort of like a robot, and say we’re gonna play… That’s the way it goes.  On Rebel Radio, I don’t know what I’m playin’ next!”  Rebel Radio follows a basic pre-formatted playlist created by Davidson, but gives his listeners a definite say into what they want to hear.  “I would definitely honestly say Rebel Radio’s the only station in Chicago that plays requests.” Depending on the number of requests received, Rebel Radio tries to honor the request within 10 to 15 minutes from when the call is received.

Davidson also puts his time and energy into providing a platform for local Chicago area bands to showcase their stuff by giving them airplay every hour on Rebel Radio’s CHICAGO HOME GROWN.

Happy 21st Anniversary Rebel Radio, LONG LIVE ROCK!
