FOOD Share's Mobile Pantry Joins Santa Paula Boys & Girls Club Birthday Celebration

FOOD Share & Friends teams up with the Boys and Girls Club to bring food, education, and fun to Santa Paula youth

On Friday, Aug. 28, the FOOD Share & Friends mobile pantry will visit the Santa Paula Boys & Girls Club to help host its August “Birthday Club” celebration.  FOOD Share and Friends will contribute to the birthday festivities with a nutrition lesson, cooking demonstration, food samples, produce distribution and a special birthday treat.  About 90 children are expected to participate.

The FOOD Share & Friends mobile pantry was designed as a moving community center to connect friends in need who lack access to food pantries or other vital resources to the variety of services and support FOOD Share and its collaborators offer.  It provides a traveling source of information and links neighborhoods to nutrition education programs, health services, financial literacy programs, employment/income assistance programs, and housing resources.

“The mobile pantry has given us the ability to do so much more to impact communities across Ventura County,” explains Bonnie Atmore, president and CEO of FOOD Share.  “We’re very excited for the opportunity to engage and educate the youth of Santa Paula and to help make the day a special experience for them.”

The FOOD Share and Friends Mobile Pantry was made possible through a partnership with the Port of Hueneme and Wells Fargo.
