Elant Community Health Division Separates From Parent Company, Names New President/CEO

Elant’s non-profit Community Health Division – comprised of Elant Choice, Inc., Elant at Home, and a Social Day Program – has recently separated from Elant, Inc. to allow for a more lasered focus on the growth of its Managed Long-Term Care Plan (MLTCP) and Certified Home Health Agency (CHHA), and to further expand its catalog of other forward-thinking, community-based services.

Sylvia McTigue, who worked in the capacity of Chief Administrative Officer for the Elant Network the past four years, has been named the new entity’s President and CEO.

“Sylvia is a collaborative participant in the marketplace,” said John McEnroe, the chairman of the Elant Community Health Division Board of Directors. “She pays close attention to all details of our ever-changing business, while still comfortably talking about individual aspects of the business and the greater political and business environment in which Choice operates.”

Under McTigue’s leadership, Elant’s MLTCP has more than quadrupled the number of Medicaid recipients it serves through its ever-expanding network of care providers across the Hudson Valley. At the heart of its patient care structure are nurse care managers and a team of staff who work hard to meet changes to the new healthcare paradigm.

“Every member of the Community Health Division team is focused on better quality outcomes, focused avoidance of unnecessary institutionalizations, health monitoring and prevention, and ensuring those under our care remain in their homes and community for as long as safely possible,” McTigue said.

The demand for home care-related services and managed long-term care plans, like Elant Choice, have risen over the last two years as part of the state’s effort to increase efficiencies, monitor quality outcomes, and realize cost savings related to Medicaid expenses. As part of the Medicaid Redesign Team’s efforts, the New York State Department of Health required Medicaid consumers over the age of 21 who need more than 120 days of home- and community-based care services to enroll in a MLTCP. Elant Choice serves qualified Medicaid recipients across Orange, Rockland, and Dutchess counties.

Studies have shown that long-term at-home care can often deliver a cost savings of as much as 50 percent when compared to institutional care.

“We are in midst of the greatest changes in the history of our industry, and our team has worked tirelessly to not only meet these changes, but to ensure that we are well positioned to best support the future care needs of the Hudson Valley,” said McTigue. “We truly are – and have always been – a healthcare organization that is committed to excellence in all that we do, and I am very proud of our staff and their uncompromised commitment to PeopleCare so that we can uphold the trust given to us by those under our care.”

“Sylvia, a thought leader who is able to define and implement far-reaching strategies, has amassed an extraordinary team of passionate and skilled professionals who are all fully committed to providing the best care, the best administration, and the best environment for our clients and our team,” said McEnroe. “I speak for the entire Board of Directors when I say that we are lucky to have Sylvia leading the charge into this new era of healthcare.”
