"Whether we talk about larger Android LED projectors or portable pico projectors, the fact is that they are far over most people's budget that they have in mind. Even if many consumers are interested in having a projector at home to enjoy the large screen experience, the price is definitely a deal breaker for most tech lovers," says Ms. Chan.

Besides the price, high tech projectors have always been products used by fast innovators, who have knowledge of how to install and use. Ms. Chan says, "As the Android operating is the most used OS for smart phones the majority of consumers already know how to navigate it. Thus, the Android operating system will be very easy to use for them to use. As a consequence, Android based projectors will have a wider public appeal. The only difference (and benefit) is that Android OS can now be experienced in 250 Inch, 5 times bigger than the average TV!"

With this idea in mind, Chinavasion has now launched the "Droidbeam II" projector in direct cooperation with high tech Chinese factories. The device is offered at an competitive 320 US Dollar price tag. "The projector runs the Android system and has a strong quad core CPU," says Ms. Li. The "Droidbeam II" is Chinavasion's first try to not only show a projector to the world that's cheap and easy to use, but also enables users to watch movies directly from the web or have access a wide range of applications that are readily available from the Google Play store.

With a 1.5Ghz quad core processor and 1GB of RAM, Ms. Chan notes, “The Droidbeam II will allow users to run applications smoothly even if several apps are open at the same moment. With 3000 lumens, a 2000:1 contrast ratio, and 1280x768 native resolution, the consumer can now view movies, run applications, or enjoy video games. Moreover, this Android projector can even be use as a large screen home computer to enjoy stunning life size images in fantastic color depth and detail.”

“Old style projectors were not only super expensive to get, but also comes with expensive maintenance. The projection bulbs cost hundreds of dollars and only lasting a few thousand hours.” adds Ms. Chan. “Tech lovers won’t have any of those worries with the Droidbeam II or other LED-based projectors as the lamp lifespan of most LEDs used in these devices is around 50,000 hours, which results a major cost difference” Ms. Chan explains.
