India, Delhi, December 11, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Established in the year 2003 by a group of prominent educationalists and industry experts, UPES is the first Indian university to offer 88 domain-focused programs and specializations across 13 different sectors like Infrastructure, Power, High Technology, Design, Legal Studies and Information Technology. A decade into the academic domain, the university has now emerged as a key player in the business of quality education. A part of UPES, Dehradun, the School of Design Studies (SoDS) is the first design school in Uttarakhand that provides creative design courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It helps students understand and master visual design aspects of transportation, industrial and product development and build a successful career in the industry of their choice. Design Studies is the only professional field of education that provides an essential understanding of design processes across all domains. The six domain-focused programs offered by SoDS (B.Des, B.F.A in Digital Arts, M.Des in Transportation Design, M.Des in Industrial Design, M.Des in Product Design and M.Des in Interior Design) help students encourage their appetite for innovation and creative zeal.
Brought to you by the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies, in association with the School of Design Studies, 'Design Dialogue' was a daylong design seminar held at Magnolia Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on November 29, 2014. Aimed at existing and aspiring students, the event commenced with an inaugural keynote speech by Professor Kishor Munshi from the Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay.
A must for all students who aspire to be innovators and successful creative leaders, the seminar covered important topics like ‘School of Design Perspective and New Philosophies’, ‘Solving Transportation Design Problems’, ‘Transportation Design Case Studies’ and ‘Solving Product Design Problems’.
With an impressive list of key speakers that comprised of Mr. Kishor Munshi (Professor, IDC, IIT Bombay), Mr. Nileshkumar Kirtane (HOD, Styling Design, Honda R&D India Pvt. Ltd.), Ms. Mizuho Tomita (Co-Director, BeeStudio) and Mr. Sanandan Sudhir (Product Design Consultant), the day produced many insightful sessions on Design Education.
