Out of Step Launches Crowdfunding Campaign to Improve Economic Access for People with Disabilities

Out of Step is celebrating its first anniversary with the launch of a crowdfunding campaign.

Out of Step, an online marketplace where people with disabilities can sell products or services, is celebrating its first anniversary with the launch of a crowdfunding campaign.

The $50,000 fundraising initiative will help Out of Step enhance its website, recruit new sellers and educate the larger disability community about its innovative solution to chronic unemployment. One in four Americans has a disability - and a great deal to contribute.

"There is tremendous interest and excitement for Out of Step. The funds we raise will help us expand our innovative marketplace," said Out of Step founder, Nikki Zimmerman. "Together we are sparking a movement that will change the lives, and finances of so many."

Incentives for donations to the crowdfunding campaign are sourced from Out of Step's marketplace and financially support members with disabilities. Perks include handcrafted pens, personal portrait, books, wine charms, wooden whistles, artwork, key chains, awards and more. All by people with disabilities. It is truly win, win.

To mark the anniversary, Out of Step is also premiering two new videos. The first showcases the life and spirit of Riley Zimmerman, the inspiration for Out of Step. The second details how crowdfunding donations will help Out of Step reach its many goals.

In its first landmark year, Out of Step has created a unique platform for people with disabilities who want to earn money. Consumers can now discover a host of great products and services on the website, from art to technical writing to auto detailing. Athletes with disabilities can find sponsorship and adaptive technologies. Those with a disabled animal can connect with support groups or source a pet wheelchair. And non-profits have a one-stop website to list valuable resources.

Out of Step also gives voice to the issues faced by people with disabilities. Its three weekly radio shows explore a variety of topics.
