A summary of a report on fixed and wireless broadband pricing in Latin and North America regions shows a slight decline as compared to previous quarter
May 7, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Recent research was conducted on the fixed and wireless broadband prices and techniques used by service providers for the Latin and North America regions. This concluded that the prices have slightly decreased in comparison to the previous quarter.
The research found out that from the current quarter, the pricing for the fixed and wireless broadband stood at 31.25 and 19.75 Euros respectively, which accounts to 1.25 Euros per GB for the fixed broadband service.
According to the research, most of the service providers were satisfied with their broadband pricing and data usage options, with the exception of Arnet, doubling up the tariffs. The trend which was found through the research reveals that most operators are likely to increase their data usage and packages to gain loyalty and satisfaction of the customers. Keeping the prices constant or even a low hike when coupled with an increased bundling and better packages tend to please most users.
The more advanced countries in the region of research, such as USA, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile and Canada used better technology available, including the fiber optics and LTE to improve their system and reduce the broadband pricing. LTE was part of the 16 countries which included the above mentioned.
There is a general pricing gap between the fixed and wireless broadband services which is directly related to the amount of data usage option available. Fixed service offers unlimited data usage while mobile services have packages of 5GB monthly, which cost less than the fixed package. The overall price difference is compensated by the amount of data allowance for both services.
In countries with limited technology, wireless broadband services are expensive and the infrastructure is not developed. People use the service less often and have to pay more, the prices of which are likely to remain constant in the shorter term. Prices of 1GB data packages on mobile tend to vary from one country to another, depending on the infrastructure and technology deployed in the region.
